Projects & Programs
From restoring the Wheelway to getting 4th graders on bikes, our projects and programs keep Northern Michigan connected by trail.
What We’re Working On

The Committee to Restore the Wheelway is working with the City of Petoskey to rebuild the washed-out Miracle Mile and reconnect the bayfront trail.

Trails are an economic engine. We study and share the value the Little Traverse Wheelway brings to our communities — in tourism, health, and quality of life.

Childhood obesity has quadrupled in 40 years. Our program gets kids off screens and onto bikes — turning them on to a form of exercise they can carry for life.
Since 2016
Launched in 2016, Pedaling with a Purpose is designed to get kids outside. Across a full day, students read maps, take nature walks, discover local history, learn the life cycle of fish, and pick up basic bike mechanics and trail etiquette to ride in a group.
The day is full of fun and learning — but the focus is health. Our goal: get kids turned on to biking, a form of cardiovascular exercise they can carry with them throughout their lives.
